Victory Farms, Inc. is a family-run, Certified Naturally Grown farm in Hanover, Virginia. Owner/Operator Charlie Collins has been farming for a living since 1994. With a degree in Botany, he has spent years developing methods for growing fine-quality produce on a small urban farm. The four+ acres of land are compost-fed and pesticides are never used. Artisanally grown produce is hand-harvested and tended to daily by Charlie himself and arrives at the markets freshly picked, clean and ready to enjoy.
From 1994 to 2006, Victory Farms, Inc. was recognized for selling to 25 of Phoenix, Arizona's finest restaurants. Gina Collins, Vice President and co-owner, accepted a position with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in December 2006 (which she subsequently left to work on the farm full-time) so the farm moved east. Since we've relocated to Hanover, Virginia, we have re-created our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) membership program for the Richmond metro area. We have grown from 100 members in 2007 to 200 members in 2008 and to 400 for the 2009 season.
We sell to the general public at three area farmer's markets and through the natural foods market Ellwood Thompson's. We also supply a small number of Richmond restaurants including Savor and the Dining Room at the Berkeley Hotel.
We believe firmly in the sustainability of small-scale farming and our responsibility for stewardship of the land we live on. Our family supports other local businesses and producers personally on a daily basis. We invite you to try our produce and taste the difference!
Local Food = This food is grown near here, on a human scale, by people who care deeply about the land and make thoughtful, conscientious choices for its stewardship. It is nutritionally intact and fantastic tasting. It thrives here, unpropped by excessive resources or technology. Its history is knowable and unsullied. Erin Barnett, Director, LocalHarvest.org.
